1000 Comment Contest

I am about to reach a milestone in blogging. I am x amount of comments away from 1000 (interesting note, I have almost as much spam comments as well, awesome I know). Because I enjoy comments so much and love to comment myself I thought I would do a little contest.

The Contest is as follows:
-Be the 1000 Commenter (it could be in three comments it could be in 23 comments, you do not know, only I do. So comment and see if you will win)
-What to comment on: what is your favorite thing about blogging?
-Bonus prize: If you are the 1000 commenter and you retweet this post I will throw in a bonus prize….

The Prize
Your choice of the following:
-Phil Wickhams new cd Heaven and Earth (which releases tomorrow)
-Switchfoot’s new cd Hello Hurricane
-You control the Blog for a day (a chance for you to post, say, do whatever you want with thoughtsaboutnothing)

So, comment away and see who is going to be the 1000 commenter.
Winner will be announced on Wednesday November 18th

*Kyle

  • Yes; we most definitely had a discussion on Lindsey's blog! I enjoyed it and I have to say your words kinda haunted me. I so prefer online, like to think that I'm more "me" online than I am IRL and your position of we are who we are IRL more than online frightened me a bit!

It's nice to know that there are people like me around. Oftentimes I feel quite alone. The blogging community really drives that home for me. Thanks
  • Man, I must be in the wrong time zone or something, I thought for sure I'd be one of the first ones on here this morning. But maybe I'm the 1k post?

My fav. thing about blogging is much of what's already been said...being able to talk and it not matter if I'm being heard. Also I love the community it can bring.
  • Amen - to that!
  • You could be the 1k commenter, you are just going to have to wait and find out.
But you never know what could happen here.

And yes, I love the community it can bring as well and I am glad that you are apart of that daily.
  • Hello. :-) Found you on Without Wax, plus you commented on my comment on Lindsey's blog (I think)

My favorite thing about blogging. Not sure what it is for me personally on my blog; my blog is not "real".... it exists solely for me to write and process my own thoughts and questions and as such is very disjointed and random. I'm not sure I really like it but I do enjoy taking pretty pictures to post. :-)

Yet what I love about blogging on OTHERS blogs is when the community and the blogger interact with me. I prefer a dialogue over a monologue and I really enjoy hearing other's perspectives. That's probably my favorite part of blogging. :-) Happy near 1,000 comment post!
  • Thanks for stopping in. I think we had a discussion not a monologue :) on Lindseys blog the other day about community.

I am with you, I like to blog because it is more about therapy then about just writing words. I like to be able to process thoughts and ideas and have a place to put them and then to see that I am not crazy and other people are just like me in some way.

Thanks for stopping in and commenting.
  • Good try and smart, but will it work? You will just have to wait and see.
  • My favorite thing about blogging is having a semi-reliable form of memory backup for my own brain.
  • So far, my favorite response. I look forward to coming back in 5 years and see what I was talking about.
Probably going to bring a lot of laughter.
  • Favorite thing about blogging - Connecting with people so that you can enter to win something that only you (and other bloggers) would be excited for. :)
  • haha. Nice
  • Right there with you. That is the only reason I blog
  • Who doesn't love free stuff?

(Yes, this comment is a thinly veiled attempt at increasing my odds of winning)
  • i like sharing my photos and getting feedback from other photographers. i also like sharing quotes that challenge and encourage me. mostly i like how even though people can be thousands of miles apart they can still be connected.
  • That is my favorite thing as well. I love the fact that I can converse with someone in Australia, California, right in my neighborhood, or someone in ATL.
That is the best part in my opinion.
  • That was a very good idea and I read about that the other day. I would have been all over that if I didn't live in STL and you in California. You know, the whole distance thing.
  • your tweet just said we are getting very close..thus meaning we have not reached 1k yet...so I had to jump on and try one last time.....was it me this time?

Your contest reminds me I never gave the winner of my wedding photo contact their prize. I need to get on that. I had a contest the day of my wedding to see who could be the first one to take a photo of me and my wife after we are 'married' and post it online. I think I had a tie, two people updated a photo and the timestamps was the exact same minute. crazy.

    I like online contests.
  • Shelby
But Kyle what happens if you're the 1000th comment?
    Then no one wins.
Except you of course, but thats no fun!
  • My Comments do not count. I wish they did because then I would be getting a new CD, but they do not count.
So everyone has a shot at winning.
  • Shelby
Yeah, I saw your tweet right after I tried to make that snazzy comment.
But I don't think I've ever actually won any type of contest, but i try anyway.

and btw currently listening to the shane and shane christmas CD you posted.
    Me gusta!
  • I <3 free stuff too!!!1

Great idea bro -- keep it up!
  • Thanks man, miss talking with you. We need to do that sometime soon
  • Agree - are you available later today?!
  • Ya, actually I am having to drive for a couple of hours so I will call you then. Probably around 3 or 4 my time.
    That work?
  • You are in Central Time, right? So you're time is my time too... :)
I'll DM you a number to call - I'll be at the office, and my Blackberry doesn't work so well here.
  • Hey Kyle! Just ran across your blog and thought I'd say hello and enter a comment in hopes that I am the lucky somebody!

  • Terrace, thanks for stopping in and saying hello. Good luck and check back in tomorrow to see if you have won.
  • My favorite thing is having a place to talk where no-one can tell me to be quiet!
  • Who doesn't love that!
I think that is why I like to blog as well.
    Thanks for stopping in
  • I would agree.
  • Is this an official entry? Or are you just conquering?
  • Tom
You know, it's really tempting just to spam your comments until I hit 1k ;)
  • Well, you could do that...and in all reality you could win that way, but you won't because I control this contest and I will ban you from this blog. Well, probably not actually, I am not that cool to be able to start banning people from this place. You never know, you could have won with this comment right here.
Or maybe be the 7th comment and you could win.
  • Tom
I'd never spam. In actuality I had no intent of posting a second comment, but you replied, so I'm replying. You know how it goes.
  • Oh I know how the game works. If someone replies to you, you have to reply back.
The question is when does it stop? Who stops the convo? I can do this all day.

Also, thanks for the contact info, I was able to connect with Andy yesterday and we are chatting tomorrow.
