52 Day Resolutions

I love the start of something new. In fact, I love it so much that I start a lot of things but rarely finish. So this year when it came time to start I needed something new.

Enter Jon Acuff and his 52 & 7 method.
His resolution of rethinking the New Years resolution is something I can get on board with.

Seize the Year Calendar

The 52/7 method is taking 7 areas of your life and setting habits in each area for 52 days.
Here are the areas: Financial, Physical, Social, Mental, Career, Family and Spiritual.

I wanted to list out my first 52 day commitments to hold myself accountable by hitting publish.

Financial
Bring my lunch to work 4 days a week

Complete a website project to pay for honeymoon

Capture every expense on paper

Physical
Stay on slow carb diet for 52 days
(with 1 cheat day a week)

No soda for the entire 52 days

Social
Spend time with Jeremy once a week

Text a friend I haven’t talked with once a week

Mental
Read two books a month

Career
Write 10 blog post

Finish book proposal

Change blog template

Family
Read 2 marriage books

Finish wedding website

Pray for marriage and Wife 3 days a week

Spiritual
Memorize Proverbs 1

Read Bible 5 days a week

This method is something that I am excited to not only start but finish. I am looking forward to not only making it to the end of my 52 days but also to see what has worked and what has not worked.

    I love this. One of the things that’s really helped me that I’ve been doing since the new year began has been to write down four positive things, blessings, or items of thanksgiving from each day. They can’t be the standard, Oh, I’m glad for a roof over my head or for my family. They have to be really specific. So far it’s been a tremendous boost in cultivating a spirit of gratitude and joyfulness.
