A Lonely Place
Can a building filled with thousands of people be one of the most lonely places in the world? Feeling alone is a very real issue that many people face today. Whether it is feeling alone inside of your home, or feeling alone in life, people struggle to find a place to belong to, to fit, a community that they are a part of. This building filled with thousands of people is the church.
Can people go to church and leave feeling alone? Amazingly you can, I have done it, I would assume that you have as well. This is not a post ripping the church, this is a post ripping sin, ripping ourselves for letting loneliness creep into our lives and hijack our community that we are apart of. I find it interesting how I can go to church and be surrounded by 500 people and yet never talk to anyone, make no eye contact, and then leave as soon as the service is over. There are times where I feel more alone when I am surrounded by my brothers and sisters in Christ.
How the Devil wants us to feel alone. I feel everyday is a constant battle of loneliness. This battle of fitting the urge to think that you do not matter, that you do not belong, that you will never be good enough, never fit in, never make friends, never be wanted or cared about, this battle over takes who you are and how you feel. In all reality we are surrounded by hundreds of people who care about us, and yet we feel more alone then ever.
Take Courage Brothers and Sisters, for we are not alone, we are a body, a body of believers, the bride of Christ, we are not alone, you are not alone, and I am not alone.
May we all gather together and never be alone, may we encourage each other in community and love, may we tell the devil that we are not alone, may we realize that we are all apart of a priesthood of believers.
When are times you feel alone?
