There are no participation trophies for the game of life.
No participation trophies, first place trophies, or best spirit trophies.
The only trophies paced out are the checks we place next to our task.
Nothing great comes to those who just participate. As I write this, I am listening to U2. The best band of all time (another debate for another time). The amount of greatness I see from them almost makes me want to quit trying to do anything. Gifted, yes. But more impressive is their dedication. They never stop. Releasing 13 studio albums since 1980, they have stayed dedicated to making great music. That is an album ever 2 1/2 years. The dedication to deliver something great is what drives them every day they wake up.
Let’s admit something right now together: the greatest barrier to getting anything done is ourselves.
We are to blame. It’s easy to believe circumstances, people, or opportunities keep you from getting where you want to be, but every day you control your biggest obstacle, yourself.
This is why we have to beat ourselves every day.
Why do we have to beat ourselves every day?
We live in a time where we can accomplish what we set out to do. Learning is available to us. People are available to us. Resources are available to us. There is no greater time than today. You don’t have to be from a certain family, live in a certain region, or grow up a certain way.
Anyone can accomplish what they want.
I am tired of saying I want to do this but never getting past the “dreaming” stage.
I am tired of others getting the things I want while I sit on the sideline and watch.
I am tired of waking up in the morning to do the same thing over and over again.
I am tired of distractions stealing my time rather than doing what I know needs to get done.
I am tired of being the guy who has great ideas but never has anything to show for those ideas.
What are you tired of?
If you are tired of the excuses, now is the time to take back your time.
Time we commit to getting things done and being able to check things off of our to-do list.
It’s time we become systematic about our task and accomplish the goals we have.
I have created this free resource for you. It’s my task sheet that I use every single day.
It walks you through your day by morning and by night focusing on the most important task but also providing a place to dream up new ideas.
