You ever judge someone by their ring tone?
I do this all the time. It is funny how people get embarrassed when their phone rings because of what it is playing, and yet they are the ones that chose to put Beyonce Single Ladies on there every time someone calls. Please tell me I am not the only one that does not judge others by what they have as their ring tone?

What one example of judging someones ringtone do you do?
What is your ring tone right now?

    Nope, you're not.

Funny story: Back when beepers were popular, I used to have this friend who had a beeper. We were much younger than driving age, so I've no idea how he acquired it, but in the middle of class, he'd make the beeper go off and then act surprised that it did.

The thing is, no one was calling him. I don't even think it was hooked up to service. He was making it beep on his own in order to get attention.

Of course, there are people that have ringtones that you don't want 'em to turn off.

That is exactly what I am talking about right there with that video.
I just do not understand how people put these on their phones and then get embarrassed when someone hears them.

Idk if I really judge people by their ringtones.
But i do always laugh when they seem embarrassed by them.

and I don't even know what my ringtone is because its always on vibrate or silence.
Good chance its Party in the USA.

I would be really upset with you if I heard that go off on your phone, mainly because it would get stuck in my head and I would forever be tormented.

My current ringtone (and probably will never change) is One by U2.

I have personalized ring tones for others, but this is the one that most hear.

I don't have a ringtone. My phone stays on vibrate all the time. For whatever reason, I can't stand noises from devices anymore.

Same goes with computers. The only noise that comes from my speakers is music. None of those stupid bells and dings.

      Hate 'em.

There is a guy … as in, a male… in our church whose ring tone has gone off during the service… The song? Bryan Adams “I do it for you”…I was pretty sure it was his but tried to give him the benefit of th doubt… until we were at a guys wing night and it went off right in front of me.

    • AdrianaFeliz

funny.. I was just going thinking of a similar story..this girl's (as in female :P) ring tone went off also in the middle of service (what part of put your cell phone in vibrate they don't understand)…the song? Candy shop by P.diddy or 50 cent. I'd lie if I said I didn't judge her.

My ring tone is Dakota by Stereophonics.

      • http://thoughtsaboutnothing.com @kylelreed

You are justified in judging her for that…that would make me laugh even if I was preaching.

    • http://thoughtsaboutnothing.com @kylelreed

That is pretty funny. I would have been laughing at that and then everyone probably would have looked at me and not understood. I love those moments where you find something that is funny to yourself and no one understands.

Most of the time the ring tones I hear are just top 40 junk that I don't recognize, but once in a while I hear one with a country song, and for some reason that really cracks me up. I don't know if it's some association I have with country music and technological illiteracy or what, but for some reason it always amuses me. My ring tone is and has been for years (I'm too cheap to buy a new one) Thunderstruck by AC/DC. I'm not sure what that says about me.

I don't tend to judge people based on what their ringtone is. I feel like it gives me an extra little glimpse into their personality. I do judge a little though when they are embarrassed by their ringtone. You picked it for some reason, so own it and be proud! Haha. Mine right now is John Mayer's version of Bold as Love.

    • http://morethanuseless.com/ Tom

Most of the time, I think that cover songs are best done by the original artist, but Mayer's take on Hendrix's song is amazing. Love that song.

If I had that as my ring tone, I'd never answer my phone – I'd just let it keep playing.

    • http://thoughtsaboutnothing.com @kylelreed

I am with Mr Foolery on this one, John Mayers version of Bold is love is amazing.
      Very good stuff.

Well, if you judge people based on their ringtones, you must both think I'm pretty cool then, right?! ;-)
and I have been known to miss a call a couple of times because I just keep listening to the ringtone.

        • http://thoughtsaboutnothing.com @kylelreed

          You are very cool

I totally FEEL judged….like when I had ROCKSTAR as my husbands ringtone….awkward…. right now I have the theme for Perry the Platypus (of Phineas & Ferb fame). It makes me giggle, but I scurry to turn it off when I am in a nice store or something. Otherwise…hey…I'm in student ministry…go ahead and judge!! :)

There is some kind of line there you have to figure out. Because you could have a couple ring tones that make you laugh but you do not want others to hear.
It is weird, I tend to go with the safe ring tones, but have still been embarrassed by those as well. I think as long as you don't care about it, then you are golden
