Making another move

Kyle Reed // @kylereed

I am trying to decide if I want to make the move to my own personal webpage. Probably go through godaddy.  My webpage would be kylereedblog.com
I was wondering though, is this a good idea or should I just stick with wordpress.com

I need your help, should I move again?

You can buy a domain name (kylereedblog.com) and then use it with wordpress.

You could do that. Be prepared for a little work. It’s helpful if you want to start displaying a portfolio and if you want to have your wordpress super customized as far as design and plugins your using.

I would suggest staying the heck away from Godaddy. That’s just me though.

But it’s totally up to you dude. It’s real easy to import all your comments and posts in.

Thanks Ben, that is what I need to know. Stay away from Godaddy i will. What are you suggesting I should go with?

Yahoo servers have been pretty reliable for me but I think @benparker had some trouble with them

I’m not seeing the need for anything more than wordpress right now. I mean really, like none at all. Especially if you’re just going to continue using the WordPress interface through your domain. Waste of money if you ask me. Maybe someday, but (IMHO) no reason to just yet.

Well it may be a little more pricy, but I am a fan of media temple. Hard to beat the quality of service and flexibility. Plus I have had way better luck with my databases with. Yahoo screwed everything up for me. If you want to buy the domain I can add you to my hosting package, you would get your own FTP access and it’s free.

Ben I would love to take you up on that offer. I was looking at having to pay for an FTP thing and a domain name. Thanks man, now I can go and check out media temple.
