Music does make you Smarter

Kyle Reed // @kylereed

CalTech grad student  Virgil Griffith has conducted an interesting study relating music preferences with SAT scores.
The results show that the “smartest” students’ favorite musician is Beethoven,
with an average SAT score of 1371,
and at the other end of the spectrum is Lil’ Wayne, with an average score of 889.

I have been saying this for a long time….

Notice that David Crowder made it on the list.

Remember, next time you are thinking about what to listen thin about how smart it will make you.
Sufjan or Sigur Ros would be my choice people, maybe that is why I am so smart.

What music do you listen to that makes you smart?

How the heck does Sufjan get the best non-Beethoven score? Have they seen him with his wings on?

  • Donald Miller

It's sad that in the Christian category Kutless and Crowder Band are the same. If one compares the composition of their music they will see that Crowder is a league above Kutless.

Just like to point out that correlation does not equal causation. Listening to Lil' Wayne will not make you dumb. Nor will Beethoven make you smart. Also, the fact that "Jazz" is on the low end of this chart completely destroys the small bit of credibility it was trying to maintain.

I actually do think that listening to lil wayne does make you stupider.

This "study" looks like something that would show up in a junior high science project fair. It should be renamed: Some People Who Tested Low Also Like Lil'Wayne.

Besides, how else could AC/DC score so high…there is absolutely nothing intelligent about the lyrics or song composition. :)
