As I was out yesterday “shopping” at my favorite store, a thought hit me…what if I could become a personal shopper for people?
In recent conversations over the last couple of months with Eric Peters and Stephen Diel I have finally come to this idea of being a personal shopper. Eric, Stephen, and I have had the idea of opening up our own goodwill/salvation army of our own. If you have been in St. Louis on the Loop you might know what ragorama is. But for those out of staters let me explain. Rag-a-Rama is a resale shop/retail store. The brilliance of this store is that they go out to goodwill/salvation army and other stores and buy stuff there and then re-sell it at their own store for a lot more money. Things that I find at salvation army for a dollar they sell for $10 to $15. Now they have gotten it to the point where people are bringing in their own clothes and selling it to them for 30% store credit. Stuff they paid $50 for they are selling it to rag-a-rama for $15. Geniusness in action…
Now, this store is downtown (kind of) far away from the suburbs. I do not know of any other stores that are out in the suburbs like this one. So we have been talking about opening up our own and then on the weekeds turning it into a thrift store/concert venue. How awesome would that be?
But for now, to get the business started I think that I could be a shopper for people and then sell clothes to others. Whether that be online through the blog or in person, would you buy from me?
