Question(s) for You

Kyle Reed // @kylereed

Last night was one of the greatest nights in Missouri sports history. The St. Louis Blues won against the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Missouri Tigers beat the Oklahoma Sooners (and the Rams will beat the Bucs today). I am still coming off a huge high of victory and celebration. I did try my best to not ask any sport questions for you today. I probably spam you enough with that in twitter, sorry about that. Here are some Question(s) for You

You can answer them all or just one

1) How are you doing? Seriously, how are you doing?

2) If I was coming to your city and we were going to hang out, where would you take me to eat or get coffee? What is your spot to hang?

3) Anything that stuck with you today from the message you heard or something God is telling that you would like to share with the group?

Answer them all or just one….these are questions for you.

    1. I’m doing good. It’s been a rough few months, but I feel like we’ve made it through the storm.

    2. We would eat at a hole in the wall Authentic Mexican Place. The food is cheap and it’s way good. If we were going to just chill out we would go to Starbucks.

    3. Our message was about accepting our calls. It gave some confirmation as to what’s next.

    • http://thoughtsaboutnothing.com Kyle Reed

I love authentic Mexican tacos, so I am in.

  • http://manofdepravity.com Tyler

    1. just ok.
    2. mcmenamins brew pub, stumptown coffee, henry’s tavern.

What a day it was. My OSU Cowboys lost, but all was made right in the world when Mizzou beat OU. Glory.

I’m doing ok. Been a crazy 2010 and last week was miserable. But I have a lot to be happy about.

We would go to Coffee Slingers (seriously, one of the best coffee shops in the region – http://www.coffeeslingers.com) and Iguana Mexican Grill – http://www.iguanamexicangrill.com. An amazing, local restaurant that absolutely dominates.

As for the message today: when things are going great, stop and remember Who I am and Who brought me here, and be grateful.

    • http://thoughtsaboutnothing.com Kyle Reed

      Dude, wasn’t that glorious.
You and your family have been on my mind and have been thinking about your business. I continue to pray that restoration will be found between the two companies.

      Mexican food is always good

      • shellie (baylormum)

But, wait! WHO is the Big 12 South leader after this glorious weekend??? BAYLOR!!!! Who’d thunk it! The team that couldn’t win 6 in a season the 4 years my daughter went there! Baylor. Not UT. Not OU. Not even OSU. Baylor.

And the Pens LET your sad Blues win! ;)

        • http://thoughtsaboutnothing.com Kyle Reed

hahaha, Blues did win. Sorry about that. SId the kid was robbed a couple times by my boy Halak.

And yes it is cool seeing the Baylor Bears go to a bowl game. I am sure you and David Crowder are ecstatic right now.

    1. I’m all right. I’m trying to mentally prepare myself for a year in France. I’m excited, but a little nervous too.

    2. Church! We have a fellowship meal after the service each Sunday. The congregation is SUCH a melting pot of people — but the majority is college students or recent graduates — from all over the country. It’s impossible to run out of interesting people to talk to. (Oh, also — on the coffee thing: our pastor roasts and blends his own trademark coffee and sells it in several local coffee shops. But he also brews GALLONS of it for church every Sunday. It’s amazing coffee. So yeah, the coffee angle would be covered too.) :)

    • http://thoughtsaboutnothing.com Kyle Reed

what…..France. How did I miss this detail? That sounds awesome btw

And a good ole church hang is always fun. I love me some church food

  • http://bahava.wordpress.com Katy

    1) making progress. fighting this quiet feeling. it’s been a rough week, but god is doing what He does best and fighting darkness with light.

    2) probably make some delicious food at home! there aren’t a whole lot of great places to eat in my town. though there is a decent chinese place so maybe there.

    3) the message I heard had this awesome illustration at the end about how there are layers of protection. it was a visual with the enemy on one side and then the pastor, the small group director, the small group leader, the believer, etc…just the whole idea that there are people fighting for your destiny with you. much easier seen than written…

    • http://thoughtsaboutnothing.com Kyle Reed

beautiful picture there, people fighting with you.

Sorry to hear that this week has been tough. If it is any consolation I am with you on having a tough week.

      And chinese is always good

  • http://joannamuses.com Joanna

    1. Actually, surprisingly well. I’ve got academic deadlines, ministry responsibilities, there’s been a death in the family in the last week and all sorts of other drama. I probably should be really stressed but I’m feeling pretty calm.

    2. In my suburb of Melbourne, Australia there is a few good Asian restaurants. I’d probably take a guest elsewhere in the city though. If they were into coffee I’d probably take them to one of the funky coffee shops in the central business district or lygon street. If they weren’t into coffee I’d take them to Federation Square (a space in the very middle of the city that often has buskers and events) and get slurpies. I love to get a Slurpie and sit in Federation Square people watching.

    3. This quote from a chapter on prayer in Max Lucado’s new book jumped out at me when I read it last night. “Satan does not stutter or stumble when you walk through church doors or attend committee meetings…..but the walls of hell shake when one person with an honest heart and faithful confession says “oh God how great though art””

    • http://thoughtsaboutnothing.com Kyle Reed

Glad to hear with all that stuff you are not stressed. I know I would be.

Great quote. I have heard a lot about Max Lucado’s new book, a lot of great reviews.

    1. really well i think. mostly relieved. woke up to find on facebook that my ex now has a next:)
    2. i’d take you to Auntie Em’s in Eagle Rock or the Peach Cafe in Monrovia. and i’d bring along my brother Josh. i think you guys would get along smashingly.
    3. i missed church this morning. super long week and i slept til 11am. but i believe God is prodding me to connect within my church so… i checked out a small group last week and then i have another potential one this wednesday. kind of excited to see what happens next.

    • http://thoughtsaboutnothing.com Kyle Reed

so its a good thing your ex now has a next? Okay fair enough.

Would love to meet you and your brother. Some day we will have to make that happen

      • http://philologus.wordpress.com/ JuliaKate

yes. a very good thing. we’ve remained friends, but it’s like when you had to fire a friend and finally feel some relief when they get a new job, lol! and Los Angeles awaits you in all of it’s smoggy splendor:)

        • http://thoughtsaboutnothing.com Kyle Reed

          I gotcha.

Well my cousin lives in downtown LA and my uncle lives in Oxnord, so you never know. I have been there several times

  • http://www.carusophotography.com Jay

    1. Doing well. There is a decision schedule I am on which comes up at the end of the year. It is something I am approaching with a mixture of nervousness and excitement.

    2. Well Palm Coast basically sucks, but if you did come it would have to be Starbucks, but there is a good place called Houligans I would take you to eat. Great if you love sports as there are televisions all over the place and very good food.

    3. Right now we are going through the beatitudes from Matthew 5. This week we covered verse 6: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” Our Pastor discussed how this verse is often used by some Christians as a means for hammering away at people about how they should be reading their bible every day and praying every day for a at least a certain amount of time. He said what it really means is to hunger and thirst for a relationship with God that can only be achieved through Jesus Christ. He also said that we never obtain righteousness while on this Earth. If we could, Jesus would never said that we hunger and thirst for it. It’s an ongoing thing.

I hope this season of life continues to be challenging but also rewarding for you and your family Jay. You are doing some great stuff with your photography, but also with the way you have mentored and dialogued with me and others on the interwebs. Love that about you.

  • http://www.prudychick.com Prudence

    1. I’m exhausted. Physically, mentally, emotionally.

    2. Didn’t get to church today, went out with my family to a pumpkin patch/farm/kids ride thingy.

    3. I’m not sure.

    • http://thoughtsaboutnothing.com Kyle Reed

Prudence I hate hearing that. Sounds like you need a raining monday sleep in day. I hope you get that rest very very soon

  • shellie (baylormum)

    1. 3 weeks of unemployment left. Still waiting on the WA Board of Pharmacy to grant me a license. I took & passed the law exam almost a month ago. No one seems to care that I WANT to work. I miss work. But, I know that this season shall pass. That God is going to surprise me beyond my imagination.

    2. There is NOWHERE here to go. When we moved last fall, we waited 8 weeks for internet. I had to drive 45 minutes 1 way for Starbucks free (AT&T) internet. For. 8. Weeks. And I don’t even like coffee!

    3. Today I was reminded that, no matter what I want to think, I am NOT the one in charge! And sometimes that just ticks me off! I’m not mad at God, but at the people that sometimes disappoint me.

    4. And how ’bout those Baylor Bears. :D

    • http://thoughtsaboutnothing.com Kyle Reed

love your faith. It really is encouraging to see your faith in God and what He is and going to do in your life.

BTW, I did not provide an option for question 4. And my response, come talk to me when you beat the number 1 team in the nation :)

      • shellie (baylormum)

Hey, Amarillo gave Mizzou Ziggy Hood & then Mizzou gave him to the Steelers. What a connection!! I guess he was in Amarillo on the Steelers bye week to watch his alma mater play. My husband watched him play a lot in high school.

Im a day late, but”ll answer anyway. I’m doing ok. Been really tired lately. Finding myself too busy to work on projects I really want to work on sometimes.

If you came to visit, I’d take you to Lafayette Coney, in the center of Detroit. Dogs and chili fries. Good stuff. Maybe Slows BBQ later that too, also in Detroit. Awesome food.

Message was on waiting yesterday. I find myself waiting for our son to be born. That definitely stuck out. Gotta have patience.
