Carlos reminded me that January is the greatest month for televesion. Not only do seasons start back up from the fall, but new seasons start and run to the summer. Two of my favorite shows that are starting in January are Lost and 24. I love them both and have watched every episode. I was an early adopter on 24, watching from day one. I was a little late to the game on Lost, starting around the end of season two, I begin the journey of watching on DVD and wasting 5 hours of my day because I could not push the stop button.

So, which show are you more excited about, Lost or 24?

If neither, then what show are you excited about starting up in January?

Wooo! Jack Bauer! He's my hero. I never started watching Lost, so now it will have to wait until I can put in a marathon DVD session. I remember when 24 started my college freshman year, but I didn't pay that much attention to it, but by my junior year, it was something my roommate and I shared religiously. Yes, the season where they took down the President was the best, and it's been a little ham-fisted since then. I don't care.

    • @kylelreed

Ya season 1 and 2 were definitely the best.
A lot has happened in a week for Jack Bauer, I am just waiting for one season to just be him walking around the house, hanging out, eating cereal, and watching TV.
      Still waiting for that.

And if you start the Lost marathon, you will not be able to stop. Very addicting, much like 24.

I'll have to go with 'Lost.' There's a few reasons. The first of course is that this is the final season. It both sucks and it is good at the same time because the show will go out on top. It obviously sucks because that's it. It's over.

I am still looking forward to the start of '24' but the show has lost some of it's luster. It's largely due to the fact that it has to bring up similar kinds of story lines year after year and the surprises are just not there anymore. I remember that for the first 3-4 seasons you were guaranteed an “Oh s**t!” moment because they would just do something so off the wall but it became almost common. I'm hoping for a really good season.

    • @kylelreed

Thats a good point about 24. It does seem to need to go the Lost route and go out on top.

It will be interesting to see what this season will feature, and how questions will be answered. I think they will leave it pretty open ended and let you ask questions.

I don't watch either of those shows. I'm planning to get into them once they're all available on DVD, though. I'm weird like that.

Right now, I'm looking forward to (in no particular order):
    – NCIS
    – Smallville
    – The Office
    – And I'm gonna keep trying the new Scrubs incarnation but I don't think it's gonna work out well.

    • @kylelreed

I watched the new scrubs for the first half, it was pretty lame.
I also tried NCIS, cannot take the acting.
And the Office will be nice to have back.

      • Tom

Scrubs was one of a kind and nothing's ever gonna compare but it's hard not to do it..

I watched all Seasons 1 – 6 of NCIS starting this summer and ending just before Christmas. The strength of the show is in the characters. I'm one of those people that gets kinda irritated when they try to drop a bunch of computer science technical jargon in a show. It rarely makes sense at all. The new NCIS:LA is not one that I'll be watching.

The Office is a constant. Always enjoy it.

        • @kylelreed

the times that I have watched NCIS I did like Abby, she was good. It was more the detectives then anything.

  • Brett Barner

I had to stop watching 24 in college because I was putting off schoolwork to watch “one more episode”. Haven't gotten back into it since. I can't wait for final season of Lost. Thought it started in February though?

    • @kylelreed

That is how I was with Lost.

And you are probably right, I think I just said Lost started in January to fit the post.

      • Brett Barner

That's why I held off with Lost until I was finished with school.

Final season of Lost starts: February 4th

Thanks ChaCha! I wasn't sure before. You got me nervous thinking that I was going to miss it. :)

  • stephenbateman

Dude I was a late adopter of 24, coming in around season 4. But my parents and I faithfully watched every back episode before starting the new stuff, what a great decision. We back up the DVR right now to watch 24 commercials!

  • tyler

I stopped watching 24, but I used to really like it…until they allowed Jack's daughter to work at CTU. Then I gave up b/c she's terrible. I'm super pumped for LOST starting up, but it doesn't start till Feb, so Jan is only 1/2 awesome.

    • @kylelreed

Good point, Jacks daughter Kim is definite downer for the show. Every year I think they are going to kill her off, and every year she survives, or should that be every day?

    • Brett Barner

Lol that's when I stopped watching too! Remember her dorky office nemesis? Sylar from Heroes! (or new spock form Star Trek)

      • @kylelreed

Ya thats right, I forget about that guy.
        Remember Victor?
Don't even get me started on Hero's I quit when season two started, it drove me insane.

        • Brett Barner

Season 2 of Heroes was awful. I was surprised to see them able to continue as a show after that. Plus after Peter wasn't as awesome as before and never seeming to be upset, really ruined it for me. Yeah, I have so many complaints from that show. First season=awesome.

  • tyler

I stopped watching 24 after season 4 but I remember really liking it up to the point that they let Jack's daughter work at CTU. Then I gave up b/c she's terrible. BUT I'm a huge LOST fan, all caught up and ready for the season premier which isn't until February. So I guess Jan is only 1/2 awesome.

  • tyler

    gah. double post. sorry

  • Christy Polek

    Wait…no… LOST starts February 2nd. Not the 4th. And I can't wait!
Don't miss it on the wrong date Brett!!

    • Brett Barner

      oops, good call! Stupid ChaCha!

  • Tyler Braun

I'm looking forward to Friday Night Lights. Best show on television that hardly anyone watches.

    • Nathan

Yes, Friday Night Lights – incredible show! I've been watching it since the fall on DirecTV… they've got some deal where they start broadcasting it early. Other than LOST, nothing else I'm really looking forward to. American Idol is past it's expiration date, imho and 24's just gotten a little squirrely and unrealistic, but I'll probably still watch it, or Tivo it. Will definitely miss Kings this year… stupid NBC.

    • @kylelreed

Totally agree, one of my favorite shows. I have been watching since season 1.
When does it come on NBC again?

      • Nathan

Sometime in late spring or summer I believe, probably when it's done airing on DirecTV.
