I was driving in my truck with my sister the other day and we were talking about how hungry we were. As we talked about all the places we would go and eat if we could, I asked her: “what are your top 3 restaurants you have eaten at before?”

I asked her, partially because I wanted to know, but mostly because I wanted to tell her mine. So here they are:

1) Chillis: Three words: Big mouth Bites. Love them…What makes this place my number one is the bites and because of the chips and salsa (thanks Jeff Henson for the intro)

2) IMO’S: Now if you are from St. Louis you know what I am talking about. But if you are an alien to the ways of STL pizza then you are missing out. Contrary to what Tyler and Uncle John say, IMO’S is the best pizza out there. St. Louis style pizza is my favorite. What almost moved this up to First place was the fact that they have amazing Salads as well.

But, El Maguey is number three on the list. The best Mexican restaurant that I have attended. Love this place. Get the chicken nacho plate with vegetables (optional) and you won’t be disappointed.

4) In N Out: One of the greatest things about Vegas besides Lee Coate, is In n Out. I loved this place, and it loved me (especially my hips). The countless times I went there with Ben Parker, the time I had a surprise birthday party there, or the time I took my family there, this place has great memories of food, fun, and friends.

5) Outback Steak House: I have to have a place to get an awesome steak and some amazing bread, and outback steak house provides this great opportunity. Don’t get to eat there very ofen, too expensive, but when I do it is a treat.

    You have got to be freaking kidding me????? Your blog just lost tons, and I mean TONS of credibility with this one. Please delete it. 3 national chains and 2 more local chains make up your top 5 Restaurants!??!?! Ludicrous!!!! Chili’s number one!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I hate you. St. Louis style pizza…NO SUCH THING! About as legitimate as Lincoln, IL style pizza or wichita, KS style pizza. And you even added a fast food restaurant. You definitely have some living to do brother.

    Dude this list is crazy. The idea of Big Mouth Bites has been done ages (and done much better) ago by much better restaurants. I can’t argue the chips and salsa…they are the best, but the rest of the restaurant is mediocre at best and downright bad for you at worst.

    Also, the only people who treasure the dump are the people who’ve built their house in the middle of it. IMO’s pizza is trash and you need to own up to that. NOBODY who lives outside the boundaries of STL likes “St. Louis style” pizza. In fact, STL doesn’t have enough soul to even claim a style…except of course if that style happens to be utter rubbish.

    Cmon Kyle the only unique item on your list is El Maguey and to be honest, you can totally tell they get their food from the same distributor as every “authentic” mexican place in any town big enough to have a walmart.

    First of all… IMO’s is amazing. These two have had their taste buds destroyed by years of eating pizza with whole baby tomatoes on it. Perhaps Saint Louis should take a cue from Chicago and start covering our pizzas with unreasonably large chunks of green pepper and onions…ridiculous.

    While I don’t want the comments on this article to become a debate between St. Louis and Chicago style pizzas, because this whole list is a joke, I do want to smack Ryan in the face for even hinting that this so called “St. Louis Style” pizza even compares to Chicago.

    One time when Uncle John and I were bowling (in St. Charles) we were super hungry and ordered a pizza. We both had extremely fond memories of bowling alley pizza from our childhoods or whatever, and when it was brought to our table we were sorely disappointed that it was in fact “St. Louis” style pizza. We only had two small squares of it.

    So we decided that the untouched pizza had to be eaten by the person who had the worst bowling score. One of the most competative games I’ve ever played.

    I actually would like IMO’s if they didn’t use that god-awful cheese: Provel.

    It’s actually not even a real cheese, it’s a bunch of cheeses (none of which are mozzarella) combined. The combination is something that the FDA will not recognize as a cheese so it is considered a process cheese.

    What this means (and I’ve said this for years) is that worthless “pizza” places that make pizza with Provel have a pizza with what appears to be Kraft Singles baked on the top of it. It matches melted processed cheese slices in both taste and texture.

    Of course if you’ve been unfortunate enough to group up around this kind of stuff then you don’t even realize that its so much better everywhere else. Like a fish doesn’t realize it’s wet.

    You (tyler and david) are stupid. These are the best restaurants I have found and come to love. Most of us (most) like places for one thing on the menu, that is what I have come to love about all of my favorites. I didn’t even mention Bandana’s (tyler, I know you will kill me on this one).
    The bowling story was pretty funny though. You have to be a native of the St. Louis area to love IMO’s, look at Ryan Peters.

    All I am saying is that you suck. I will never look forward to going out to eat with you because you have no taste in food. I pray that someday your eyes are opened to the truly good and authentic flavors this world has to offer. Where do you want to go for our golfing trip? Florida, Arizona, Vegas, South Carolina?…

    Thanks Buddy David.
    I know that Vegas is ridiculously expensive, but I did hear that because of the economy golf prices are droping. So that could be a possibility and I can have a place for us to stay for free.
    South Carolina might be an interesting option. Probably want to do something cheap, but still good.
